At Glen Young Physiotherapy Clinic we help patients of all ages dealing with physical problems caused by illness, accident, or aging. Physiotherapy helps to improve function in order to promote health and well-being. An important role of our clinic involves understanding the cultural, physiological and social factors that affect our patients. We believe that living with pain or dysfunction is unnecessary. With 29 years’ experience and up to date equipment and resources, we have the expertise to help.
Our goal is to complete a detailed assessment to rule out serious pathology and figure out the mechanism of injury. We believe in providing our patients with an explanation to the treatment plan. Three phases of treatment follow a certain order, we need to control pain with modalities, activity modification, and medication if need be. The acute phase lasts 7-10 days typically and pain will be intermittent or related to activity. We will then focus on restoring joint mobility opposite mechanism of injury for the next 21 days. This helps take the tension off the injured tissues to help speed up the healing process.
The last phase is strengthening to help prevent reoccurrence and restore function at work and play. Once you have completed all three phases you will be provided with a custom home program.
